Fall Front Porch Decor on a budget.

Fall front porch decor on a budget.

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog.  As usual, life gets hectic and crazy during the summer. Now that the kids are back in school I’m looking forward to getting into a routine.

I have also been busy with remodeling and decorating our home.  We received our keys last year on Halloween.  So, this is our first Fall in our new home.  I’ve been having so much fun decorating our front porch for Fall that I wanted to show you how  I did it on a budget.

DIY Easter Bunny Butt Wreath

DIY Easter Bunny Butt Wreath

Craft Outlet, Wreath, Easter, bunny

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I last posted.  Life just seems to be getting in the way lately.  I did, however, find some time to work on a new DIY Easter Bunny Butt Wreath for my front door and I wanted to show how you too can make this adorable bunny wreath.  I was inspired by a similar wreath that I saw on the Craft Outlet FB page and I thought that this would look awesome on my front door! I order craft supplies from them on a regular bases.  They have some cute accessories (like the bunny butt) that I can’t find at my local craft stores.  This DIY Easter bunny wreath is easy to do and it took me less than an hour to complete it.  So let’s get started! Thrifted Holiday table setting decor.

Thrifted Holiday decor

Hi everyone,

Wow, a lot of things have happened since my last blog post.  Most notably we purchased are first home since moving to Washington over five years ago! I’ve been so busy with the move and remodeling projects that it’s left me with NO time to blog. So, I’m excited to get back at it with my first post showing you how I decorated my table for the Holidays using mostly thrift store finds.

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

May 23, 2016

Shout Out Monday!

Hi everyone,

Today, I wanted to give a quick shout out to my favorite facial scrub from Acure.  I purchased this at my local Target. Sometimes the lady that works in the beauty department at Target has samples of products to hand out.  This is how I came across the Acure brightening facial scrub.

Maui Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

Happy Monday everyone!

I wanted to give a quick shout out and review on this new line of hair care that just hit the shelves at Ulta. I’m always on the look out for a decent priced shampoo and conditioner that is more on the natural side with their ingredients.

Seven game changing hair products that I use!

May 9, 2016

Shout out Monday!

Hair, care, shampoo, brush

Game changing hair products that I love

I wanted to start a new category called “Shout Out Monday” on my blog.  This is where I will give a little shout out to products and things that have made a difference in my life.

Today, I wanted to talk about some hair care products that I’ve been using and loving.  All but one of them are drug store items.

In this post, I’m going to focus on the hair care products that I use after I wash my hair.  I have fine hair but I have a lot of it.  Before using some of these products it would take a long time for my hair to dry – NOT anymore!

After gently towel drying my hair, I like to apply a quick drying primer spray to my hair.  My hairdresser used Redken Pillow Proof on me and I really liked what it did to cut down the drying time on my hair.  I also liked that it didn’t leave my hair feeling greasy.  Unfortunately, the one thing I didn’t like was the price.  One 5.7 oz bottle will run you about $20.00 at Ulta.  However, I’ve found a dupe that performs just as well as Pillow Proof for a fraction of the cost.  It’s called Blow Dry It (Quick dry primer spray) by L’Oreal Paris and it only costs $3.99.  You can find it at Target, Wal-Mart and Ulta or just about anywhere that sells L’Oreal hair care products.

The next product I like to use is also from L’Oreal. It’s their new Boost It (Air-whipped densifying foam).  I like to distribute this from the roots all the way down to the ends of my hair.  I notice a difference in the lack of volume in my hair if I don’t use this.  Again, its light weight and doesn’t make my hair feel greasy.

Once I have these products in my hair, I will brush the products through with a wet brush called The Detangler.  I like this brush because it detangles my hair with out causing damage to it.

Before I grab my blow dryer I reach for another brush, one that I’m really excited to talk about.   I’ve never really cared much about brushes until now!  I just bought this brush at Ulta and from the very first use I fell in love with it! It makes my hair feel smooth and silky after using it.  It’s called 1907 Square Thermal Brush from Fromm. It’s a little pricey at $17.99 but so well worth it!

The company describes their copper brushes to be:

Superior temperature control dries hair 30% faster reducing hand and wrist fatigue

Hand-crafted 100% boar bristle strip offers extreme grip and shine

Copper destroys 88% of bacteria preventing dandruff, itching and flaking

The next day I usually don’t wash my hair.  I like to give it a break and what helps me go between washes is a really good dry shampoo.  For the longest time I used Batiste Dry Shampoo.  You can find this at most places like Target, Ulta and other drug stores. I prefer the one that smells like coconut, its called Tropical.

Lately though I’ve been using and loving the Living Proof dry shampoo.  I could honestly go three days in between shampoos using this product, I can only go two days with Batiste. I’m not a fan of the price but when a products does such a great job I will make an exception.  I purchase Living Proof products at my local Ulta.

I finish off my hair style with TRESemme Expert Selection Platinum Strength Fortified Hold hairspray.

TRESemme Fortified Hold Hairspray.

I like the way this holds my style without feeling sticky or crunchy.  I spray it once and it lasts all day. This can be found wherever TRESemme is sold.  I think I purchased my can at Walmart.

Here is a breakdown of what I use, the price and in the order I use it.

  • L’Oreal Paris Blow Dry It $3.99
  • L’Oreal Boost It Air-Wipped Densifying Foam $3.99
  • The Detangler wet hair brush at Ulta $8.99
  • Fromm 1907 Square Thermal Brush
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo at Target $5.99 or Ulta $7.99
  • Living Proof Dry Shampoo at Ulta $22.00
  • TRESemme Fortified Hold Hairspray at Target $4.99

I know going hair care shopping can be a little overwhelming with all the products that are out there to choose from.  Hopefully, my list will help and I would love to hear what you think of these products after you try them.  I would also love to hear about what products you use and can’t live with out.  I’m always up for trying new things.

Thanks for stopping by!

Instagram “outfit of the day” fashion recap

Hi everyone,

I’ve been MIA lately and I apologize for my absence.  The last four weeks have been quite chaotic with illnesses and a Spring Break vacation thrown in the mix.  I’m slowing trying to get back on track and settle in to a routine.   One area where I’ve been able to keep up to date is on my Instagram acct.  If you have an Instagram acct., I would love it if you followed me over there. Instagram makes it easy for me to post quick snippets of my day to day life.

One thing I love to do on Instagram is post my “outfit of the day” pictures.  I love being able to show how you can look put together without having to spend a lot of money.  I also like getting inspired by other fashion bloggers that use Instagram to post their pics.  There are a lot of talented ladies out there that can put together some fabulous outfits.

So with that said, here are some of my “outfit of the day” pics from my Instagram account.
