Instagram “outfit of the day” fashion recap

Hi everyone,

I’ve been MIA lately and I apologize for my absence.  The last four weeks have been quite chaotic with illnesses and a Spring Break vacation thrown in the mix.  I’m slowing trying to get back on track and settle in to a routine.   One area where I’ve been able to keep up to date is on my Instagram acct.  If you have an Instagram acct., I would love it if you followed me over there. Instagram makes it easy for me to post quick snippets of my day to day life.

One thing I love to do on Instagram is post my “outfit of the day” pictures.  I love being able to show how you can look put together without having to spend a lot of money.  I also like getting inspired by other fashion bloggers that use Instagram to post their pics.  There are a lot of talented ladies out there that can put together some fabulous outfits.

So with that said, here are some of my “outfit of the day” pics from my Instagram account.

Fashion Friday Outfit #6

March 25, 2016

Hi Everyone,

Today’s Fashion Friday outfit post is going to be a little different. The weather out here in Seattle has been less than ideal. There was a time over the last two weeks where I thought I was going to have to build an ark!  Since the weather made it difficult to get out an take pictures of my outfits, I’ve decided to just post my “outfit of the day” pictures from Instagram.  If you don’t already follow me on Instagram, please be sure to do so.  I post on there daily and I would love for you to follow along with me on my thrifting and crafting journey.

Today I wanted to share with you my visit to the Meowtropolitan cat cafe.  Over a week ago, I made a reservation for Friday the 18th to take my family to the Meowtropolitan.  This is a super cute and quirky cafe where not only can you can sit down to enjoy a drink and pastry but you can also be entertained by some really cute cats.

DIY Beaded Easter Egg on a canvas

Hi Everyone,

Today, I’m posting how to make this super easy and inexpensive DIY beaded Easter egg canvas project using only items that I purchased at my local Michaels craft store.  Now, you can purchase your supplies from any craft store that is near you, however, I’m using items from Michaels because they are having a contest using the hashtag #madewithmichaels.

Easter Bunny Spring Wreath

March 10, 2016

Hi Everyone,

Today I wanted to show you how I made this Easter Bunny Spring wreath.

Easter Bunny Spring Wreath

DIY Easter Bunny Spring Wreath

On my last trip to Goodwill, I came across this adorable hydrangea wreath.  It still had the original tags on it and it looked like nobody had ever used it.  I was lucky enough to score this wreath for only $3.99. However, the wreath was a little plain and it was in need of a little makeover.

Here is a pic of how the wreath looked when I bought it.

As you can see, it wasn’t living up to it’s full potential.  The wreath needed to be fuller so, I added in some more hydrangeas. Then the next step was finding something cute to go in the middle.

My first stop was to my local Joann’s where I purchased a bushel of white hydrangeas.  Then I went over to Micheal’s and found a cute wooden bunny sign to go in the middle.  I also found at Michaels a cute Easter egg pick that had 3 beautiful turquoise eggs on it.  To top off my supplies, I found some cute pink and white floral accents from the Dollar store.  They came in a bushel for $1.00 and I just simply cut them apart and added them around the wreath to give it a little more dimension.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out.  It’s amazing how a few extra items can give new life to a thrifted item. All together this wreath cost me $18.96

Cost of wreath breakdown:

  • Goodwill wreath $3.99
  • White hydrangeas/JoAnn’s $5.99
  • Easter Bunny sign/Michaels $7.79
  • Egg pick/Michaels $1.19
  • Pink and white floral accent/Dollar store $1.00
  • Green hydrangeas/my personal stash/ free

I hope this wreath gives you some ideas on how to take a plain floral wreath and jazz it up a bit with just a few items.

Here is one more look at the finished project.

Fashion Friday Outfit #5

March 4, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I can’t believe it’s already March and pretty soon we will be putting away our sweaters.  I know in some parts of the country its already heating up, but up here in the PNW it’s still on the cool side.

I’m excited to show you my latest outfit I put together using mostly thrifted items.  My jumping off point was this black and white checkered top from Value Village.  A checkered shirt can be somewhat over powering by it’s self. However, when you pair it with a sweater or cardigan you can immediately tone it down.  So, I was over the moon when a few days later I came across this black cable knit sweater, also at Value Village.

Today for my Fashion Friday outfit, I’m posting about one of my favorite sweatshirts that I just love to throw on and go about my day.  I love this sweatshirt for two reasons… it has one of my favorite bands on it and its also comfortable and light weight,  I bought this sweatshirt a few years back at Forever 21.  I believe it was less than $12.00.

Feb. 12, 2016

Hi everyone,

First off,  I would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day and I hope all of you have a great weekend!

The outfit I’m posting about today is paying homage to all things Valentine.  I love hearts and when I came across this scarf, I knew I had to build an outfit around it.  Lucky for me I had everything I needed to do so.
